Held the 59th plenary of the CONFEDI

On 26 and 27 May in the National University of La Plata, was carried out on 59º of the Whole of the Federal Council of Engineering Deans (CONFEDI), the participation of representatives of more than 100 faculties of engineering throughout the country, including our Senior Engineer Héctor Peace, in order to discuss and set new challenges for this stage, including the need to promote - before national authorities - programs for the improvement of the careers in engineering.
The opening ceremony was in charge of the authorities of the home and the CONFEDI. In this connection, the Chairman of the CONFEDI and dean of the Faculty of Sciences
and Technology of the National University of Tucuman (UNT), Ing. Sergio José Pagani, stressed the commitment of the Secretariat of university policies (SPU), belonging to the Ministry of Education of the Nation, with the purpose of evaluating programs that were carried out in the framework of the PEFI, and work together on the design of new programs. He also noted as positive experiences the Project for the Improvement of Education in Engineering (PROMEI) and the Strategic Plan for Training of Engineers (PEFI) which served to "provide support to faculties" and stressed "the need to produce more and better engineers for the country".

In turn, Dr. Raul Perdomo, President of the UNLP, stated that "for the UNLP is a concern the retention of students in these races, which are those that traditionally had abandonment important" and added: "We made very significant advances, involving a cultural change. It has to do with consider to students as subjects with right to learn, and involves on our part redouble efforts for this to happen". He also referred to "research in engineering, it is necessary to find most appropriate evaluation parameters for technological research with which is measured. We believe from the UNLP that basic research is fundamental, and that the research, technology, has to have its own parameters, as valid as the others. There can be no science of first and second. We have to work in the direction that our researchers in engineering and technology are recognized".
Then Dr Marcos Actis, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of the UNLP and vice president of CONFEDI, said: "We have a new challenge which is the change of authorities, we need to recover that the CONFEDI is the natural component of the consultations which would make the SPU for topics of education, strategic plans, and above all how to do the follow-up, as was in its early stages the PEFI OR PROMEI".
Actis stressed the meeting of national authorities with their Italian counterparts, levada out days ago, meeting of representatives of the FCEyT also participated: "It is a home for that engineering is considered by the SPU. We are capable of facing the challenges of the new terminals. Our quarrels have to reflect in the commissions, working with consensus, as all we have done".
To finish, Pagani concluded: "We achieve consensus, listen to all the voices, and bring what we understand to be the education of engineering for the coming years, since the international, the student retention, science and technology, the valuation of technological transfer jobs.

We have already had meetings with the president of the CONICET and we will shortly with the president of the CONEAU. This year is going to be of much production and we hope to be heard".
