PROFESSIONAL PROFILE OF A GRADUATE:

A Hydraulic Engineer is a professional engineer who is trained to perform tasks related to the specialty, whether there is a specific hydraulic issue or matters related to it, and tasks of support such as:

  • Specific areas: studies, projects, management, construction, Operation and Maintenance: irrigation, drainage, sewage of Urban and Rural; Collection, treatment and distribution of water for all types of consumption; Hydraulic Structures, Waterwheels, dams, reservoirs; River works, management of torrents; Flood studies.
  • Related areas: surveying; geo-technical matters; Legal Aspects, economic and financial aspects; Assessment of environmental impact; Expertise in the field. Moreover basic training will allow you to address research and development activities, either through projects of scientific or technological development in the Hydraulic engineering discipline.

Incumbencies of a Hydraulic Engineer:

A - Study, feasibility, and project management, construction, inspection, operation and restoration in the hydraulic engineering aspect:

  • Dams, reservoirs, water intake works, conveyance and storage for multiple uses.
  • Construction of irrigation channels and installation of pipes for drainage systems in rural areas.
  • Hydroelectric Power Stations.  Structural and non-structural measurements, for stabilization of river flow.
  • Public works for administering urban wastewater and storm water sewers
  • Public works for the supply and distribution of drinking water
  • Gates, valves, drainage instruments, pumps and any other mechanism to control and maximize the use of water.
  • Sewers, bridges, siphons and art infrastructure in general

B - Study, project design, inspection, construction and maintenance of structures.

C - Studies, consultant service and execution of:

  • Planning for the development, management and control of water resources.
  • Management and administration of water resources.
  • Evaluation of Environmental impact assessment of hydraulic works.
  • Hydrologic level balances.
  • Hydrological aspects in civilian projects
  • Soil mechanics
  • Topographic Surveying related to Items A and B.
  • Matters of Legal affairs in Engineering, economic and financial issues related to paragraphs A, B and C.
  • Arbitrations, skills and appraisals related to paragraphs A, B and C.
