The challenges that are presented during this century, in the permanent search for training and preparation while fostering the possibility of continuing to envision these actions in the future while being implemented in the remaining sectors of the University Community. Such an objective takes us to explore different venues in order to accomplish the integral education of an individual. One of them is to build networks of cooperation within institutions with the final goal of contribution starting with actions and options that provide responses to the needs while generating expectations of development not only at the personal level but also at the community level. These elements mark the foundation of the Academic unity.
The Institute of Water Resources
Director :
Hector Daniel Farias, B.E.
General Objectives
The general objective of the institute is to advance the study and research of every aspect related to the Water Resources, fostering in every moment, the training of human resources, and the transference of these results and knowledge at the university environment and the community in general.
Specific Objectives
- Unify the scientific and technological efforts that are developed in the field of water resources at the university and incorporate new areas of investigation that are not taking place at the present.
- Establish relations for the organization of joint actions with national organizations, provincial and municipal organizations of every focus in our province, as well as in the north western region of Argentina and throughout the country.
- Train and improve the knowledge of researchers and specialists in every aspect that is connected within the field of water resources.
- Spread the knowledge, in the provincial and regional level, of the adequate technology as it corresponds in every case.
- Contribute towards a conscientious attitude, responsible and reflexive in respect to the reigning and permanent need to improve the use and the preservation of an element such as water, which is every time more precious and scarce.
- Offer training to technicians and professionals that are dedicated to the management, operation, control and management of water resources.
- Underline priorities, approve, assign resources and evaluate results of projects of investigation and/or extension (services) that are developed within its sphere of influence.
Structure
The institute will develop its activity through the specialized centers of investigation, the ones that are created to address specifically the distinct areas of knowledge that shape the expanded spectrum of water resources.
The centers of investigation are five and each one of them will develop their projects in the areas detailed below.
Centers of Research
- Center of Hydro-geological Studies (CHS).
- Center of Environmental hydrology and health engineering (CHAIS).
- Center of Water Management (CWM).
- Center of Investigations in Hydrology, Fluvial Dynamics and Hydro-Informatics (CIHFDHI).
- Center of Applied Hydraulics and Hydraulic Models (CAHHM).

Specific Objectives
- materials and structures in engineering, in the university and incorporate new areas of research that are not existent up to this moment.
- Establish relations for the accomplishment of joint actions with national organizations, provincial and municipal level in every sector of our province as well as in the north western region of Argentina and throughout the country.
- Train and improve researchers and specialists in every discipline connected with the mechanics of materials, of the structures’ design and construction.
- Spread the knowledge, at the provincial and regional level, of the appropriate practices that correspond in every case.
- Offer training to experts and professionals dedicated to resolve the challenges in structural engineering, in construction and the use of materials.
- Underline priorities, approve, assign resources and evaluate the results of projects of investigation and / or extension (services) that could be developed in this field.
Structure
The Institute will develop its activities through the specialized Centers of Research; such institutions are created to address in a specific fashion the distinct areas of knowledge that shape each area of their respective research.
Centers of Research
- Center of Applied Mechanics and Structures (CAMS)
- Center of Geological Studies and Geo-technicians (CGSG)
- Center of Materials Technology and of Construction (CMTC)
Professors, Investigation professors and researchers will be incorporated voluntarily at an institute, through the different centers of investigation, according to the research specialty and/or research work to be developed. His incorporation will be taking place at an indisputable form and his research activities will take place in the laboratories and/or offices that the College will assign for such purposes.
