Day to awaken vocations

On Monday, 15 May was held at the headquarters of the Industrial Park, a new edition of the day awakening vocations early, as component B of the General program "Improvement in the teaching of the Exact and Natural Sciences" the first of the year in its third and final year of implementation. This activity is driven by the Secretariat of university policies with the objective of increasing the number of young people at the middle levels, oriented toward higher studies in careers in engineering.

The meeting was organized by the three powers with careers in engineering of the UNSE, coordinated by the Ing. Basualdo, Assistant Dean of our faculty and director of the program, with the participation of more than 400 pupils of Santiago Capital and the band.

As part of this activity, were rendered simultaneous workshops in which students had the opportunity to get to know the world of engineering and thematic such as: the route of the electrical energy in the home facilities; the kitchen with solar energy; the origin of the seismic energy; transformation of the biodiesel to biogas; the utilization of wind energy, hydraulic, photosynthetic among others.

In addition, through interactive discussions with audiovisual material, professionals in engineering UNSE showed in a novel way, concepts of mathematics, physics, chemistry, among other basic disciplines, in an ongoing exchange with the students.

It should be noted that taking into account the urgent need to increase the number of graduates in science and technology, the Strategic Plan for Training of Engineers (PEFI) has among its objectives the awakening scientific vocations from early ages; he also drew attention to the importance of disseminating the role of the engineer in society. As a first step it is to reveal which is the role of the professional engineers and the importance of its role in the current complex society.
