Colombia welcomes Dr. Elena Duran, Professor of Information Sciences at the FCEyT.
Dr. Elena Duran, Director of the School of Information Sciences and of the Post Graduate School of Education in Information Sciences, in the College of Exact Sciences and Technologies, on August 13, 2015, gave a lecture during the framework of the "International Seminar of Technology Education” organized by the Catholic University, in the city of Cali, Colombia.
Dr. Duran, in this important conference gave two keynote lectures: “Ubiquitous Learning: a Challenge for Professors and Developers of Educational Software,” and “Adaptive Intelligent Systems: a path towards personalized education.”
This event was organized with the objective to generate an academic space in order to share announced initiatives in the fields of Technology and Education by a diverse pool of actors who represent the IT Industry, academia and the government, in order to face the challenges that society is confronting in the XXI century. The same event was also aimed at members of government: at the national, departmental and municipal, especially to the Secretary of Education, Professors and students in University institutions and Centers of Research; directors and professors of public/private education institutions at the level of Kindergarten, elementary, secondary, High Schools of general and technical education. Professionals of different disciplines, interested generation of processes and learning environments made possible through the use and application of ICT; representatives of the IT Industry of the National and International networks interested in technological solutions for the education sector, and Communication Media. It had a great participation by all these areas.
At the same time, Dr. Duran gave a Post-Graduate course: “Techniques and Methods of Recovering Learning Resources,” within the framework of Post Graduate program in Educational Information Technology that is offered at the Catholic University in Cali.
Her participation in Colombia was made possible, thanks to an agreement previously signed between the Catholic University Foundation (Fundacion Universitaria Catolica) Lumen Gentium (UNICATOLICA) of Colombia and by National University of Santiago del Estero (UNSE), in which are included, among other matters: “the development of a cooperation program in investigation and exchange of professors and scholars in mutual areas and fields of study that are implemented in both institutions, to promote and stimulate the exchange of professors and investigators.”
