Dean of FCEyT participated at an International Symposium in Peru

The Dean of the College of Exact Sciences and Technologies, Ing. Hector Paz, is participating in the 2nd IEEE Accreditation Agencies Summit-Americas” within the framework of the 2nd International Symposium of Accreditation in Engineering,” in the city of Lima, Peru, during the 1 and 2 days of September. He was invited by ICACIT (Instituto de Calidad y Acreditación de Programas de Computación, Ingeniería y Tecnología) and the IEEE (Institute of Electric and Electronic Engineering), the organizers have invited Ing. Hector Paz, as the President of the Ibero-American Association of Institutions of Engineering Education (ASIBEI), to give a presentation on the “General Competencies of admission in engineering majors and profile of the Ibero-American Engineer.”

This symposium is the most important event of accreditation in engineering of Latin America and the Caribbean, it brings together experts and leaders of academia, industry and government of our country and from abroad. It is designed for the following audience: chiefs of quality and accreditation, coordinators of accreditation of programs, consultants of accreditation, professors of institutions of university education and professionals interested to the accreditation topics.

This meeting establishes a space the interchange the best practices about accreditation. Within the sessions of work there will be explored the definition of the attributes of graduates’ who have pursued these programs and have to act accordingly and for them the documents of reference are: General Competencies of an Ibero-American Engineering graduate. This is why the event organizers, considered of great importance the participation of ASIBEI, in order to accomplish results that can positively impact in the education of professionals of engineering in Latin America.  At the same time, during this work, they are aiming fundamentally to develop a road map for the establishment of an “Agreement of Mutual Recognition in Latin America and the Caribbean,” which will reinforce the benefits of students of engineering throughout the region.
