On Monday 31st, in a press conference, the leaders of the three faculties of Engineering of UNSE, announced the organization of the Second Latin American Rally of Innovation, which will be organized on October 9-10 in the headquarters of the Industrial Park. To make this public statement there were present the Dean of FAyA Ing. Jose Salgado, Vice Dean of this College Dr. Jose Maidana, Vice Dean of FCF, Lic. Elsa Ibarra de Gomez and the Vice Dean of our College Ing. Pedro Basualdo.
Ing. Basualdo gave the opening of the press conference, underlining the importance of this type of competitions, which has originated from the interest of international associations of engineering where “there are being analyzed the high quality of students and the training that should be given to a much needed engineer.” He added that there is a need to foster in students besides “knowledge” in order to get ready to embrace the “know how”, so that all are able to generate new developments, to understand the needs of their profession, evaluate the impact generated by measures that the activity of engineering would generate; work as a team fundamentally; above all know how to communicate all projects that they are doing, finally “they should have an entrepreneurial spirit.” Beginning with these concepts is that the Secretariat of University Policies has developed a program in order to generate the entrepreneurship spirit to students. This program is entitled the Regional Program of Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Engineering,” clarified the Vice Dean of Engineering at the UNSE College of Natural Sciences and Technologies.
Lic. Ibarra explained the details of the competition. It must be noted that they have individual enrollment and it can be done only online, which is opened on September 30th in the website: www.rallydeinnovacion.org. The participants will be enrolled and at the day of the event will freely bring the equipment of their equipment with a group size that could be from four to ten participants. At least two students should come from any department of engineering, the other team members should be students, professors, university researchers and or professionals from other departments of the University.
At the designated hour in all the principal centers, there will be announced the “challenges,” that are real problems presented by companies, and after twenty eight hours of work, the solutions must be downloaded online. This will be taking place at the evening of Saturday the tenth. The same results will be reviewed by a local team of jurors, and we hope that by September 19 the winners of our competition will be announced at our competition center, subsequently on Monday there will be announced the winners at a regional level.
Ing. Salgado explained that “there are two categories for each one of them there will be teams recognized at the local, national and international. They will be: Social Impact, and Innovation. Within the UNSE community, there will be presented various prizes to the winners of both categories; in the first and second places as we have done last year. The first place, will be a prize equivalent to Arg. 20,000 and the second place will be an award of Arg.$ 10,000. We hope to have a greater participation in this year’s competition.”
During this month, there will be organized two workshops, so that participants can acquire the best tools to participate in this rally. Soon there will be a report issued on this major event.
